Courts have asked repeatedly for Smith Audio Visual (SAV) to locate a digital recorder that really works. SAV could not find one that would meet court requirements, so we built one from the ground up—1Touch Digital™. This innovative product has everything the courts have requested, plus it’s easy to use!
The 1Touch Digital™ has 8 channels that can record up to 7 individual microphones or audio/visual inputs, plus the recorder automatically records a mixed track of all 7 inputs on the 8th channel. In addition,
- Files are set up for easy case management with time/date stamp.
- Recorded audio files can be adjusted for desired level of quality, from broadcast quality CD .wav files to standard MP-3 files. The MP-3 files can be played back with any standard PC media player with no additional software licenses or annual fees required.
- Digital audio files can be transferred automatically to a network server if desired, making CD’s, DVD’s or audiocassettes things of the past! However, if a network server is not available, 1Touch Digital™ comes equipped with a DVD burner.
The system is supplied with a heavy-duty USB foot pedal control that connects to standard PC and file management software. The recorder is available with various sized hard drives, from 250 GBs to 4 Terabytes with built-in mini disk array storage. Automatic hard drive space manager is included.
The Basic and Premium systems also include our exclusive audio interface, 12 in and 12 out. Our systems supply:
- Perfectly balanced audio signals to 1Touch Digital™ recorder
- Outputs to the court’s sound and hearing-impaired systems
- Automatic microphone mixing for crystal clear audio
- Courtroom is electronically balanced when system is installed. These features dramatically improve the overall sound quality of the courtroom. The audio interface can work with all microphones. To get the most out of your system, 1Touch Digital™ recommends the use of flexible super cardioid condenser microphones for the best results. Overall, courtroom audio improvements will depend upon existing power amplifiers, microphones, speakers and room acoustics.
The interface has additional inputs for:
- A/V input
- Video and Audio conferencing (External echo cancelling is highly recommended )
- One spare input and signal noise generator for jury noise masking during “side bar” conversations between judge and attorneys. AMX™ touch screen control is required to activate the “Side Bar” feature and is a part of the Premium system.

The Premium 1Touch Digital™ package features an AMX™ 7” color touch screen system with total room control, including:
- Individual microphone mute with visual bar graph display
- Exclusive “Side Bar” that continues to record the judge’s microphone during side bar conversations, muting all other outputs and generates noise masking over the jury (Separate power amplifier channel for noise masking is required.)
- For a small additional fee, the AMX™ touch screen can be custom programmed to control flat panel displays, projectors, DVD’s, VHS or document cameras for total ease of operation of A/V equipment in the courtroom.
- Most features of the 1Touch Digital™ system are not available from any other manufacturer!
